NEW TODAY!! OKEEFE - Oriental Poppy Polymer Clay and Black Onyx Necklace

Oriental Poppies have been my inspiration as an artist for decades now. Inspired originally by Georgia Okeefe's gorgeous red poppy paintings. Click here to view an article that I published about my paintings of flowers. Below to the right is one of my many Oriental Poppy acrylic paintings. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love oriental poppies.

Because I take a zillion photos of all of my pieces, wanting to capture every angle and lighting situation, I have selected additional detail photos to give a closer look at this necklace.

This piece was created using an oriental poppy cane that I created and then used the design to create these lentil shape beads. The largest beads are about 1.25 inches (32mm) across, the smallest bead across .75 (19mm) inches wide by about 1 inch long (25mm).  To add interest and enhance my OKEEFE beads,, I added black onyx long beads that are organic looking with a high polish. The longest black onyx bead is, just over .75 of and inch (19mm).
As well, I have suspended this beautiful strand onto gunmetal tone metal chain that has 5mm links. The chain was left longer on one end so it can connect at any link if you like. The hook was handmade by me, using 18 gauge oxidized brass. And there is a finishing touch of a dangle on the end.

These beads can be flipped over. As you can see on the right in some photos, there is a centre view of the poppy but you can turn it over. These beads were made using my poppy cane, that is full of rich reds into a bit of yellow, some green and a black glitter clay for interest and twinkle. These beads were hand sanded, waxed with Renaissance wax and lightly buffed giving them a low sheen. The stone and gas beads have a high shine, but my clay beads are more of an eggshell, satin finish. Look at all the views to get the best idea.

The poppy cane beads on this piece were swirled into a "lentil" shape bead. No, they don't look just like poppies because I was being creative as you can see below. Love, love, those poppies and the reds. This is a one of a kind piece.

Sneak Peek! OF "THE HAWN" MOKUME GANE DESIGN: New Pendant Soon To be Listed:

HAWN, is the name I gave to the Mokume Gane Design block, that I shared in a recent Oval Pendant listing.  I love the colour combination, fuchsia, orange, red and white. Because I impressed a flower shape into the layers of clay, as is done on Mokume Gane Technique,
many of the slices revealed a beatiful daisy shape. So retro and funky!
There will be more pieces soon to follow using the HAWN Design Block/ccane.
Wanted to share this piece before officially listing it soon!

NEW! FEATURE FRIDAY - Extra Large Swirl/Spiral Hammered Surface Hoop Earrings

Thanks to a special request, a customer asked for a three inch size of one of my earrings. Since she was interested, I thought I would make other ones in different metals. These large spiral or swirl hoops are lightweight, delicate because they are so large and especially when they are in 20 gauge wire. I wouldn't recommend them if you are super active, unless you go for the 18 gauge which is definitely a bit more sturdy feel. Mind you, I have sold a decent number of the 20 gauge brass that are about 55mm across and never had any concerns.
They have a sparkle because of the hammered surface.
Here are some photos of the various metals they are now available in.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
