SUDDENLY SUNDAY: A Closer Look At The New! DARIAH Collection

We had a great sky tonight. I don't know if it is because I am an artist, but dramatic skies are something that I find quite exciting, inspiring even. The sun peaking through the fast moving heavy grey clouds, with the potential for a loud clap of thunder and streaking bolts of lightening....oh, the anticipation of what might happen is breath taking, literally.
It is how great art work impacts those who appreciate great art work. Art work can be something we hang on the wall, place on a table top, play through a speaker, read off a page...wear around our wrists...neck or ears! Yes, I am sure that I have left out other art forms, but since this is a blog about my handmade jewelry shop, A Bergie Creation, I am presenting Wearable Art!
Today, I just wanted to share a couple of pieces designed using DARIAH. These pieces are called Dariah because they were created using the same mokume-gane design cane. The colours from this cane are bold, bright and beautiful.
Take a closer look below.

FINALLY FRIDAY! - Studio Life... This Week In Progress

Love all blues and I love the mokume-gane design cane. Each slice reveals something different.
Haven't named these designs yet :o)
Polymer clay is so great to work with. The possibilities are endless. As will much of my artistic career, when I love a technique or subject, then I focus on that for a long period time. These days much of my work has been creating pieces out of the always changing, bold and beautiful mokume-gane technique.
A bag of my newest clay puffy hearts, some using my
mokuem-gane cane slices and some...well, keep looking to see. :o)
Slowly, I have been completing the beads and the dangles and all that that means. The process takes time, and I haven't been getting the jewelry pieces completed and listed as quickly as I would like. But I love the process as well as the finished product!

Then there are the photos. And boy do I take a lot of photos.  Which is why, it is puzzling why a recent customer complained about how I needed to take better photos. Instead of admitting she didn't read the description measurements, she found the earrings smaller than she pictured. If only she knew how many photos I take, to give as many views as possible. I would love to hear from anyone who believes my photos in my shop and the description measurements are not adequate.
Or if you think they are, I'd love to hear that too. Of course I am always open to feedback that is constructive. Just hard when you are quite sure the client doesn't want to admit their error. Heck, I order online all the time and am really negligent at reading the size. Beads look huge when photographed closely and many times, I ended up with 3mm beads as described. But I was so amazed at the photos, I just assumed they were double the size. My bad.
So anyway, thankfully I haven't had a comment like that in years from another person, I assume, who also wouldn't admit they didn't read the actual measurements. I assume that because when I ask them to please measure incase I did make a mistake and then I would send a replacement, they then said, they were fine, they'd give them away. And then the comment about my need for better photos. Click here to see the earrings I am talking about.
We can all learn from this. Always read the details before ordering. I know it is a risk I take when I buy online. Do I stop buying? Nope. I love shopping online... a little too much! :o)

After firing, sanding, waxing and buffing. A mokume-gane design cane pendant
Haven't named these designs yet :o)

Just wanted to share some photos of what I have been working on this week. Sure hope to get some pieces completed soon! I get so excited, it can consume more time than I anticipate. Below are a few Mokume Gane Cane pieces, some fired and some un-fired. Thought it would be fun to share the process. I will share more about my new obsession creating the puffy heart charms. Stay tuned and enjoy.
I would love to hear your feedback, comments, questions or if you are an artist or want to be, share your experiences. Here is my creativity blog link www.heartfullycreating.blogspot.com,

PEEK INSIDE MY STUDIO...What Am I Creating?

My recent work in progress. Puffy Heart Pendants with colourful mokume-gane cane.
Hi, just wanted to share what I have been crazy busy working on. For me crazy busy is always a good thing because I love creating. Makes sense then why, I have wanted to be an artist since I can remember!
For the last few weeks I have been turning some gorgeous mokume-gane cane designs into beads and heart pendants and other pieces. Once they are all formed and fired in the home oven. Usually 275 degrees fahrenheit. Then depending on the finish I want. I often sand and lightly buff the surface. To achieve a nice sheen, I love using Renaissance wax. It is a beautiful way to protect the surface and when buffed out, it leaves a subtle sheen. And these pieces that are finished this way, are left with a nice buttery feeling. I believe I heard another polymer clay artist describe the feel of it that way.
Because my hand strength is not great, I can not hand sand and buff to a high shine like some artists can. But I am happy with what I can accomplish with the tools I have.
HeArtfully Creating, is my creativity blog. Click to take a look. I just thought maybe that is why I have been into making heart pendants and dangles to make bracelets. When I just sold my first polymer clay puffy heart charm bracelet, I felt inspired to make more heart dangles. As an artist I tend to create what inspires me. But, as a shop owner, I also want to know what people would like to buy. No, I never was good at doing commissions because as an artist, I had a a difficult time painting or drawing something super specific. It's why I love just following my desire to create colourful designs and then if someone happens to want to buy them, that is a bonus!
Sneak Peek!
Here are some of my newest beads and pendants that I am just working on finishing the surfaces. Then the next step is creating wearable art by putting together the beads and such. Subscribe so you won't miss out on anything. I will be posting pictures of the first new pieces, fresh out of the studio BEFORE they are listed in my Etsy Shop, A Bergie Creation (Click to see my shop!)
